So, I won't be writing much about Jack anymore. He doesn't want the three people that read this blog to know about his giant forehead zit (oops!), so let's just assume he's like Ozzy Osbourne's oldest daughter, Amy (see! you didn't even know he had another kid!). Also, he kicked butt at his soccer game on Saturday. Okay, I'm done.

Henry seems to be adjusting to the rigors of first grade. He's made some friends (using his trademark, "Hey, wanna be my friend?" approach), and he's less stressed out about keeping up with the second graders in his class. He's playing soccer, and when one of the coaches said, "That's the way, Henry, you're a smart guy!" another parent said, "he's smart in more ways than one!" so he seems to be making a name for himself. God help me.

Preschool is proving to be a challenge for both me and the girls. There's some pretty rough boys in the class, and I'm finding it impossible to "reason" with them in a politically correct, co-op manner. I would prefer to deal with them in other ways, but there's the law and stuff that get in my way. Both girls are intimidated by these boys because they're much bigger and pretty mean, so the girls are still pretty shy in a group setting. Also, as an aside, one of the kids has a grandma who works in the class and she's only a few years older than me, so there's that. Grace has made a friend and they've become inseparable, and I was alarmed at first, but it's turned out to be a wonderful thing for Olivia. She's a loner at heart, and now that Grace has partnered up with someone else, Olivia is free to sit where she wants and play blocks and trains with the boys. I still worry, of course, about Olivia making friends, but she seems supremely contented to be with her favorite person besides Daddy--herself.
