As of yesterday, Mitch and I have been married 12 years. Our babysitter cancelled on us at the last minute, so we had the added joy of our children's company for dinner. We spent most of the day taking turns playing Guitar Hero on Jack's Playstation with Nora and Pete, who were visiting. Now that was a great way to express our love and commitment to each other. I 'booed' Mitch when it looked like he would score higher than me. Or, I'd send Grace in front of the screen to show us some of her dance moves. I also took pictures of his bald spot in back to try and make him lose his concentration. I am such a great wife. It's funny, but nobody every says to Mitch, "You are so lucky to have her!", the way they always tell me how lucky I am to be married to him. We spent the rest of the evening drinking ridiculously priced wine (given to us as a gift, I might add) and I couldn't stop myself from calculating what I could have bought with each $10 sip. We ended the night with an argument, for, after 12 years of marriage (not to mention knowing each other for 23 years), my beloved husband still likes to drop bombshells right before I go to sleep, like this:

"Honey, I think our next house should be almost a tear-down fixer-upper so we won't have a house payment." Because spending the last eight years remodeling our last dump just wasn't enough for him. The fact that we're still married after that last house just goes to show that HE IS THE LUCKY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
