Well, I can't let the day go by without putting up a picture of Mitch, post car accident. I thought I would wake up and be all wahwahbaby, remembering it all, but I feel really good. He's alive, and all, and tomorrow is Henry's birthday and yay! we're all together and healthy enough. Last year Henry had his birthday party at one of those big inflatable places and I had to host it while Mitch was bloody and broken in the hospital. I don't think I'd eaten for a few days and it just sucked, so, so, much, trying not to lose my shit and ruin Henry's party. I remember after the party, the kids and I went home and just sat on the living room floor together and cried. We all felt a little better after that, but it was a long, slow climb out of that particular hellhole. He has a cadaver's ligament in his knee and his shoulder and leg will probably always bother him, but he can build a treehouse and fix stuff, he still leaves his coffee cup in the bathroom every morning, and he still likes to yell at people on his jobsite, so I would say his recovery has been excellent. To mark the day today we're taking the dog to the groomer's to have the dead animal smell washed off him and have his (the dog's, not Mitch's) anal glands expressed. So, you know, business as usual. If she has time, I may see if the groomer can trim his (Mitch's, not the dog's) toenails.
