I picked up these hoppity poppity things for the kids because I thought it might keep them occupied while I took the day off. They were on them all day. Hilarious. Note the girls are still in their pj's and it's 5 pm. Of course, they did bring me the requisite beautiful handprints and poems, flowers and cards.
This is what we had for Mother's Day dinner.

So, I woke up and kicked Mitch out of bed so he could start brewing coffee and walk down the road to get the paper ('dirty hoe' in hand to ward off coyotes). Breakfast in bed accompanied by a vase of lilacs which were promptly spilled all over me and the bed by Grace. She used this opportunity to eat my bacon. Watched the kids hop around all day while I sipped champagne, the greatest beverage ever created. All in all, not a bad day for Kate.

Yesterday we went to the Penn Cove Water Festival. Henry has become kind of a junior mayor, it would seem. Every where we went, he knew somebody. "Henry!" was all I heard every where I went. Since these greetings weren't accompanied by torches and pitchforks, I felt I had no reason to be concerned. We stopped by a local painter's booth at the Coupeville Farmer's Market and bought some watercolors Mitch and I both really liked. As we were walking away, however, Olivia shrieked, "WHAT ABOUT MY HORSIE PAINTING!!!!!" To make a very long story short, a smiling Olivia walked out with her horsie painting and a grimacing Mitch walked out with an empty wallet.
