We survived another weekend of decorating and prop-making. I had an idea for a prop to be sitting in my bed during the Halloween party, and I should have made it myself, because I suck just enough at painting that it would have looked comical. But alas, Mitch did the painting and now the children won't sleep if they know it's even in the house (except Jack, who muttered, "it looks totally fake". Because he's too cool for school). So, now it's in a giant trashbag in the garage. What is it? I can't say, it's a surprise. But I'll take pictures if the kids let me get it out on Halloween.
Henry lost another tooth last night, so now he's ready for Halloween because he looks just like a jack o'lantern. Tomorrow, he is getting FIVE teeth pulled to make way for orthodontics, so it's going to be mush for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm terrified of this visit, considering he barfed all over the office the last time we were there. This time I'll be ready, though, with barf bags (which we now call gallon size ziplocs, no matter what we use them for "honey, could you put the leftover sauce in a barf bag and stick it in the freezer?") and extra clothes. And cash. Maybe I can bribe him not to barf.
Also, at school, things aren't getting much better for Henry. He got a score of 1 out of 7 on a paper, despite having all the answers right, because of his crappy penmanship. I talked to the teacher about it, because I'm a micro-manager buttinski. She said the assignment WAS the penmanship, but he's in effing first grade! So, I'm trying not to coddle him and we're spending a lot of time working on penmanship at home.
The girls are continuing their obsession with Wonder Woman. You can hear Grace singing all over the house, "WONDER WOMAN, ALL THE BEAUTY YOU O-ZESS. IN YOUR SATIN TAHHHHTS, FAHHHTIN' FOR YOUR RAHHHHTS!" Believe it or not, this is a vast improvement over her previous favorite song, "They tried to make me go to rehab, but ah said, 'NO, NO, NO'!" Since there are about three minutes in an entire day when she's not talking or singing, her song selection has become important to me.
