Ugh. The kids were playing 'school' this morning. They were all crouched in the corner with a blanket over their heads.
Me: Why are you guys crouched in the corner?
Henry: In case there's a shooter outside.
Me: I thought you were playing "school"?
Henry: We are. We're playing "Lockdown". We practiced it at my school yesterday.
Words, they escape me.

Wow. I remember the first day my kids had "lockdown" drill. I felt nauseaus for a week.
ReplyDeleteI caught my kids playing "tent city" with the neighbors a while ago. They set up tents, a clothesline and a bunch of other crap on the corner of our cul-de-sac. I asked if they were playing camping and Ione said, "No, mom. We're playing POOR PEOPLE."
God, things have changed!
Am I going to hell because I am laughing at the thought of your kids playing Tent City? Hey Kids! Let's play Global Warming today! We'll pretend the sea levels have risen and flooded the house!
ReplyDeleteWow, they have to practice Lockdown? How bizarre! And scary.
ReplyDeleteWhat disaster training did we need at Brentwood? I don't remember any....
At Brentwood, didn't we have drills on how to deal with the emergency situation of our giant combs falling out of our socks, causing us to trip over our ponchos?
